RiseKit’s mission is to make it easier for job seekers from underserved communities to find and stay on a fulfilling career pathway. Our purpose-driven software and online ecosystem provide job seekers from underserved communities with the tools to manage their employment journey, discover relevant jobs, training, and resources, and receive timely guidance from a network of support. We also work with the employers and support organizations (such as nonprofits, schools, government agencies, and foundations) to gain valuable insight into their communities and support their efforts to find and retain overlooked workforce talent.

In conjunction with use of RiseKit’s products and services (collectively, “Services”), we may collect certain information from you. We believe in being transparent regarding what data we collect and how it is used and shared in furtherance of our mission. This Privacy Policy will help you understand this data collection and usage and your rights regarding the same.

RiseKit ("Company" or "We") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.

This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you use our Services and/or visit the website https://www.risekit.co ("Website"), along with our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

We provide software and an online platform to assist underserved job-seekers and those that support and hire them. Our Privacy Policy applies to users of our website and services.

This policy may change from time to time. Your continued use of our Services and/or Website after we make changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes. We will make reasonable efforts to inform you of changes to this policy, but we encourage you to also check the policy periodically for updates.

Information We May Collect

Data You Provide To Us

You provide data to create an account and profile (collectively, a “Profile”) with us. To create a Profile, you need to provide data including your name, email address and/or mobile number, and a password. You create a profile to help us provide our Services, in conjunction with third parties such as non-profit partners, employers and others that may assist with your employment. 

It is up to you to determine what information to provide. By providing any information to RiseKit, you are consenting to this sharing and use by RiseKit to assist you as we provide our Services to you. The more accurate information you provide to us, the better RiseKit and others can help you with more relevant and helpful recommendations and support, consistent with our mission, such as job and training opportunities, support services around housing, childcare, transportation, mental health, legal counsel, etc.

You provide data to create and maintain a Profile with us, as well as other data you may voluntarily provide us by engaging with our services.

IMPORTANT NOTE regarding any identified challenges you provide as part of your journey (data related to barriers such as criminal history, housing, childcare, transportation, etc]:  Only RiseKit personnel and the non-profits with which you have already voluntarily engaged will have visibility to, and ability to update, this information. This more sensitive information will not be shared with employers.

We take extra care in safeguarding, and not sharing with employers, any sensitive data you may share with us regarding challenges you face in seeking employment.

Information Provided by Others About You

We may receive personal data about you in conjunction with the use of our Services, such as from our customers, partners, and employers. For example, nonprofits with which you engage to assist with your employment objectives may share information with us. The Company and/or these parties may edit or update your Profile as you progress toward finding and maintaining employment.

We may receive data from others related to, and consistent with, your use of our services to find and maintain employment.

Information Provided Through Cookies and Other Devices and Technologies

As further described in our Cookie Policy, we use cookies and similar technologies to collect data (i.e. device IDs) to recognize you and your device(s) on, off and across different  Services and devices where you have engaged with our Services.  We also allow some others to use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy.   We receive data from your devices and networks, including location data.

When you visit or leave our Website (including some plugins and our cookies or similar technology on the sites of others), we receive the URL of both the site you came from and the one you go to and the time of your visit. We also get information about your network and device (i.e. IP address, proxy server, operating system, web browser and add-ons, device identifier and features, cookie IDs and/or ISP, or your mobile carrier). If you use our Services from a mobile device, that device will send us data about your location based on your phone settings. We will ask you to opt-in before we use GPS or other tools to identify your precise location.

We collect data through cookies and from your devices and networks

We may use information without restriction in a non-personally identifiable form for insights, statistics or reporting purposes (“Anonymized Information”).  For example, Anonymized Information could be aggregated data that does not (and cannot) identify our users and which could assist us and/or third parties with a better understanding of employment-related issues consistent with our mission.

We may use data that does not identify you in order to generate insights and only in a manner consistent with our mission.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your individual personal data, including selling, renting, trading, or otherwise sharing our mailing lists or database information.

We may share your information in the following, limited ways:

  1. Your Profile (or portions of your Profile) may be visible to customers, employers, and partners, but only in furtherance of your use of our Services, such as finding training or employment. 
  2. These parties may update your Profile information but only as it relates to their own specific engagement with you. For example, a supporting nonprofit or an employer may update your Profile to indicate that you have been hired, received training, etc, to the extent you have not already done so.

    IMPORTANT NOTE regarding any identified challenges identified as part of your journey (data related to barriers such as housing, childcare, transportation, criminal history, etc):  Only RiseKit personnel and the non-profits with which you have already voluntarily engaged will have visibility to, and ability to update, this information. Employers will not have access to this information.
  3. You may link your Profile or account with others’ Services so that they have access to your information. Any such sharing and use of that data will be more fully described at the time you decide to so link your information. 
  4. We may share your data across our different Services and legally-affiliated entities to provide and develop our Services. 
  5. We may use others to help us provide our Services (i.e. maintenance, analysis, audit, payments, fraud detection, marketing and development). They will have access to your information as reasonably necessary to perform these tasks on our behalf and may not disclose or use it for any other purposes.
  6. We may share Anonymized Information with third parties, but only consistent with our mission.
  7. We may need to share your data when we reasonably believe it’s required by law or to help protect the rights and safety of you, us or others. We attempt to notify you about legal demands for your data when appropriate in our judgment, unless prohibited by law or court order or when the request is an emergency. We may dispute such demands when we believe, in our discretion, that the requests are overbroad, vague or lack proper authority, but we do not promise to challenge every demand. 
  8. We can also share your data as part of a sale, merger or change in control, or in preparation for any of these events. Any other entity which buys us or part of our business will have the right to continue to use your data, but only in the manner set out in this Privacy Policy unless you agree otherwise.
  9. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties

RiseKit does not sell your individual personal data. We may share your data, but only to help with your employment objectives, to help us with providing our services to you and others consistent with our mission, and as may be reasonably required under the law.

Information Maintenance and Control

Retention of Information

We generally retain your data as long as you keep your Profile open or as needed to provide you Services. We may retain certain Anonymized Information.

We keep most of your personal data for as long as your account is open

Rights to Access and Control Your Information

You can access or delete your personal data in several ways. You can review and change your personal data by logging into the Website and visiting your Profile page.  You can also contact us to erase, delete or limit usage of all or some of your personal data. You can ask us for a copy of your personal data that we maintain.  Residents in certain regions may have additional rights under their laws.

If you delete or limit use of your data from the Website, know that copies of your data may remain viewable in cached and archived pages, or might have been copied or stored by other users. 

If you delete or modify your Profile or account, your associated data will generally stop being visible to others on our Services within 24 hours. We generally delete closed Profile or account information within 30 days of this activity or request by you, except as noted below.

We may retain your data if reasonably necessary to comply with our legal obligations (including law enforcement requests), meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms of Use, or fulfill your requests. We may retain Anonymized Information after your account has been closed.

You may contact us regarding the information we may maintain about you by using the contact information at the bottom of this Policy, and we will respond to your request in accordance with this Policy and applicable laws.

Other Information About Our Practices

Age Restriction

The Website and our Services are not for use by anyone under the age of 16. However if local laws provide for an alternative minimum age for the provision of the Website and/or our Services to you, then that shall apply as the applicable minimum age. If you are under the age of 18 or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must use the Website under the supervision of your parent, legal guardian or responsible adult.

We do not seek to collect any information from individuals under the age of 16 and will not maintain any such data to the extent we are aware that we may have inadvertently collected it.  We adopt a range of measures to try to ensure that we do not accept individuals who do not meet the minimum age and any other applicable age requirements. If you do not satisfy these age requirements, you should cease use of the Website and our Services.

You must be at least 16 years old to use our website and/or our services. If you are under the age of 18, you should engage with us only if under the supervision of a parent, legal guardian or responsible adult.

Security

We have implemented measures designed to safeguard your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our Website or Services, you are responsible for keeping this password safeguarded. 

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet and/or in conjunction with our Services is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk.

We recognize the sensitivity of the data that you have shared with us and are committed to safeguarding your data. We have implemented reasonable security measures to protect your data from unauthorized use and/or disclosure.

Cross-Border Data Transfers and Usage

We process information both inside and outside of the United States and do so in accordance with applicable laws. We have lawful bases to collect, use and share data about you. You have choices about our use of your data. At any time, you can withdraw consent you have provided. We will only collect and process personal data about you where we have lawful bases. Lawful bases include consent (where you have given consent), contract (where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you (e.g., to deliver the Services you have requested) and “legitimate interests.”

We may access, use and store your data outside the United States, but commit to doing so lawfully. We may have authorized parties who work with us from locations both inside and outside the United States helping us to provide you with our services.
